Minerva’s Trilogy

Minerva’s Trilogy is a three-part team adventure centered around Minerva, an adolescent Artificial Intelligence who has ambitions that are too big for her motherboard. The first and last parts of the trilogy (The Minerva Project & Minerva’s Return) are one hour adventures where your team of friends is dropped into a fantasy world and must work together to save humanity! The middle part of the trilogy (Minerva’s Escape) is a free puzzle hunt in downtown Ann Arbor where your team is tasked with tracking down Minerva.

The games do not need to be played in order (especially the second part of the adventure). If some in your group have not played the first or second part, we can fill them in on the story! All games are by reservation (click the Book Now button to see available times).

What Others Are Saying About Minerva

What Others Are Saying …

“My friends and I are escape room nerds and we do these things all the time. The Minerva Project by Decode Detroit is hands down the best one we’ve been to. The puzzles were deliciously challenging and I loved how so many of them were custom-built for the room.”blee977 on TripAdvisor
“We’re regular escape room goers. So often, tech sacrifices immersion and narrative, but the team at Decode Detroit did an AMAZING job of connecting everything to the Minerva storyline. Minerva was a hilarious treat to listen to in the background – nothing makes me happier than a sassy AI and she was a gem.”882angelicah on TripAdvisor
“Love that they can modify the room to different group sizes/levels of experience. Good for seasoned veterans and rookies alike. Looking forward to more rooms and puzzles from Decode Detroit in the future!”Troy S. on Facebook
“I have been to about 20 escape rooms throughout the country (in probably about 10 states) and in all honesty, this one was the best. Far and away the most complete escape experience from start to finish. If you are into escape rooms, you will be impressed. If you’ve never done an escape room, this is a great place to start.” pjb4438 on TripAdvisor
“You can tell they have passion for the game.”Lindsay V. on Google
“The staff was phenomenal. They had a sign out front wishing my son a happy birthday, and another in the puzzle room itself. … The puzzles were challenging but the kids did not get frustrated, and we know from a prior experience here that the staff would have been ready with subtle clues if needed to keep the action progressing. For kids of the digital generation, it was fun to do something that felt video-game like but with real, tangible buttons to push, drawers to pull out, and clues to pick up and examine. It was also great to see the kids working together!”Mary J. on TripAdvisor

“It was wayyyyyy more fun than expected, even proved the skeptics in the group wrong … This is no amateur operation.”Kendal H. on Google
“The puzzles required teamwork, closed loop communication, resource sharing and cross monitoring of team members! As a person who trains teams to work better together, I think this is an exceptional team building exercise.”hbb207 on TripAdvisor

Frequently Asked Questions

Decode® Detroit | The Minerva Project is a one hour, real-life interactive story where you are the main character. Team members must work together to make decisions, solve challenges, and save the world!

The adventure continues around Ann Arbor and Detroit with Minerva’s Escape!

To experience all the adventure has to offer and have a real shot at success, we recommend between six (6) and ten (10) players per game. You can sign up with a full team, or join a game on your own and make new friends!
Although we recommend a group of six or more to have a real shot at success, you can play with smaller groups. Sign up for a game that already has a few people, or sign up for an open time and we will adjust the difficulty appropriately. There is a minimum of three tickets per game, but you can book three tickets and play with fewer people.

Playing with strangers may sound scary, but just like a game of pickup soccer, groups of strangers tend to do better and have more fun!

Decode® Detroit | The Minerva Project is $28 per person. Each ticket includes a Decode Detroit badge which unlocks the second part of the adventure: Minerva’s Escape!
Players under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Although people of all ages are welcome to play, keep in mind that younger players may find the games too challenging.
You only need to bring your everyday self!
The game will start at your designated start time, so we ask that you arrive at least 10 minutes early. Traffic can be unpredictable, and we don’t want you to miss out!

Each game takes around 75 minutes (including introduction, time inside the game, and debrief).

Parts of the game have multiple solutions, and we encourage you to find them all! However, we do ask that if you’ve played The Minerva Project or Minerva’s Return before, you don’t spoil a puzzle you’ve already solved for the other participants.

If you’re looking for more adventure with Minerva, try part 2 of the story: Minerva’s Escape or the end of the story: Minerva’s Return! Sign up for our mailing list to stay up to date on new parts of the adventure!

Cancellations are accepted with a full refund up to 24 hours before your game time. Alternatively, we can provide a rain check anytime before your game starts.
If you bringing a group of six (6) or more players, we can close your game to other players. Please email us if you’d like your game to be private: booking@decodedetroit.com.

If you are interested in booking a private or corporate event during non-normal hours, please contact us via email at booking@decodedetroit.com, or via phone at (313) 438-8054. Minerva’s adventures are great team bonding experiences that test your team’s ability to work together, and we are happy to accommodate your needs!

Our facility and game are completely physically accessible and do not require any feats of athleticism to play. One member of your group will need to be able to reach above their head and down to their feet.

If you or someone in your group is colorblind or hard of hearing, we recommend having someone in your group who will be able to perceive those puzzles and clues.

Although we strive to make our game available to everyone, those with impaired vision will have trouble playing the game.

Our regular hours are
Thursday-Friday: 6 – 11 pm
Saturday-Sunday: 10 am – 11 pm
by reservation.

Although we are often onsite during these times, to make sure we’re available to give you a tour or run the game, please call 313-438-8054 before your visit.

If you would like to book a game outside normal hours, give us a call (313-438-8054) or send us an email at booking@decodedetroit.com.

The Minerva Project and Minerva’s Return follow the same basic format of an escape room. However, we believe that a strong theme and an engaging story transform an interesting puzzle room into an exciting adventure!

Minerva’s adventures are the first installment in several multi-part urban adventure games set in and around Southeast Michigan. Although our first location was planned for Detroit, our other locations (in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti) have moved much faster from conception to reality. We plan to open our location in the New Center area of Detroit in the near future! Stay up to date on our progress here.

Sign up for our mailing list or follow us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter to be the first to know when new adventures open!

We have a new location that is under active renovation in downtown Ypsilanti, and we hope to open the first game in that location in summer 2018!

We ran into construction difficulties which have delayed our location in Detroit. However, we have a new strategy for this location which will allow us to try something completely new. We hope to have the location up and running in fall of 2018! Keep up to date on our progress here.
